Almost 350 years ago, St. Margaret Mary Alacoque began having apparitions of Jesus where he revealed his Sacred Heart to her. Christ revealed his wounded heart because he desires everyone to experience his love and mercy. To be enveloped in his grace and communion with the Father. On this great Feast day, we celebrate that the Diocese of Rapid City will ordain another man to the office of priesthood extending Christ’s mercy in a tangible way.
We also celebrate an end to the constitutional decision that has brought more death to our homes than all US wars combined. Thank you to the countless pro-life witnesses who have labored for fifty years with a desire to create a culture of life, love, and mercy.
Our work is not over. As those decisions flow back to our states and elected representatives, we must continue to labor for life. I am confident that this important step towards building a civilization of life will be followed up with our continued commitment to support mothers in need, their children, and the least among us. The enemy of the world will not be joyful about this. Do not be afraid of the noise that will ensue because of this decision but draw your hearts toward the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
