Greetings and salutations to all brother knights.
I have just returned from the State Convention and have been re invigorated after being somewhat disappointed and embarrassed.
I watched council after council receive awards for things we take for granted. We will submit for everything we do from now on. Like they said, we might as well get the recognition, we did the work.
I was also impressed by the growth of Councils through out the state. I ask again, who would you like to have by your side serving the greater glory of our Lord. They will join if we ask them!!
Now there were some low points. We were down 50% in Tootsie roll funds, the worst by over 30%. I attributed it to the bad economy but other councils were up over 100% so I can only conclude it was our effort. We will do better this year; in fact I ordered 50% more Tootsie rolls than last year. Our membership numbers were down and the highlight of the convention was an award for our scrap book which was last years pictures.
I guess what I am saying is that we have our work cut out for us. I will lead the charge but I need help. We have an abundance of talented and capable members and if we all work together we will make big things happen.
